an early morning stroll

December 1, 2011

To the airstrip and back.

There is a maintenance issue with the SIL helicopter. Therefore, they needed to change our pickup from helicopter to the Kodiak airplane.

So, at just after 7 a.m. I headed down to the airstrip with Joanna, who likes going on walks. I am not really into early morning walks, or at least walks with purpose and a timetable attached. I am more a meander along the way person.

I was able to see for myself that the grass was cut. We checked with a special measuring stick, the firmness of the ground in many areas, and just overall condition of the airstrip. It is in better condition than all year long, but that is still faint praise. However, it should be fine for the plane to land in about 2 and one half hours, so I need to run away to finish packing and weighing my things.
