Work, Play, Visit

January 8, 2012

I have spent most of this first week of our new year in Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea. I am here working with a couple of other people, John Grummitt and Michele Axelson. We are updating the curriculum of the Learning that Lasts course. This course was developed quite a few years ago, and has been taught in many places throughout the world. It is a good course about how adults learn, and the purpose is to train those who will be training others. There a couple of different versions of the course curriculum. We are going through both sets and making one set of teaching sessions, especially for use in PNG and the South Pacific area. Mostly we just decided which of the available basic modules best fitted our situation here, and we occasionally substituted an illustration with one more relevant to Melanesian culture. We have accomplished most of our goals for this working week. Of course, each of the 3 of us have some work to continue updating on our own, then by email, we will send our work to each other. When we are happy with our curriculum, we will send it to be approved by the designers of the course.

This week, I not only finish the Learning that Lasts work, I need to get quickly back into the translation work of preparing the Onobasulu Gospel of Luke for our consultant checking in February. Anna Stoppels is also working on some of the chapters.
