Home again, Home again, Jiggity-Jig,

August 10, 2012

On Tuesday, my mom was able to come home from the rehab hospital. On the way home we stopped first at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. We had discussed picking up some lunch on the way home. I was thinking take-out to take home with us. My mom says, ‘Can we stop by Olive Garden? That would be my first choice.’ I replied, ‘Mom, I don’t think that most people stop at the Olive Garden on the way home from the hospital. But then again, when have we ever been normal?! So, of course, we had lunch at Olive Garden. Everyone was great. As we walk in, my mom using her heart shaped pillow to brace her chest, a lady recognizes the heart pillow and encourages my mom that things will get better. They carefully gave us the closest available table. When we left, the waiter helps mother & I all of the way out to our car. Actually, he goes with me as I carry our ‘to go’ boxes to the car along with our purses. Then as I drive up to the door, he goes back in to help my mom to the car. He finishes up opening my door also. Then we made it safely home, and to a nap for my mom.

Wednesday and today were filled with follow-up doctor’s appointment and settling into a routine here at home. Next week, she will continue rehab in the outpatient department of the same hospital.
