Training Wheels
Over the weekend, I received a short video of my great neice riding her little bike the first time without training wheels. She was so proud and rejoicing that ”I can do it! ” It made me remember that her grandfather, my brother, learned to ride his bike without training wheels much earlier than I did. I was just afraid to finally lose my training wheels. I had the adjustable kind, and worked my way up to the highest setting. Most of the time the training wheels never touched the ground, I was just too afraid to get rid of them. Finally, I did have my dad take them off. I was also proud to share with my dad that I also could ride without the training wheels.
During the last few months, I have been through some difficult issues. So, I was thinking about the training wheels attached to my faith. . . I have not quite taken the training wheels off, but they have at least moved up a notch or two.
