Easter Sunday morning in Walagu

April 21, 2014

We did not have a sunrise service in Walagu. But here is the new literacy and translation office in the early morning fog.

There were special Easter services from Good Friday through Easter afternoon. Wabele, one of the translators was the speaker for most of those services. On Good Friday, he went all the way back to the passages about Passover, and told again the need for a blood sacrifice. Throughout the weekend, he traced through to the death of Christ, and then resurrection. Several of the times, the scripture that he read was from our working text of John’s Gospel. This was the very first time that the Onobasulu people heard the Gospel of John read in their heart language. This was a great moment for me as translator, but it was also special of the two construction guys to be here for that moment! We don’t publish copies until all of the checks have been made, but frequently, the translators do preach about what they have learned about the text currently being worked on.
