Medical Potpourri

August 6, 2014

Mom first, then me at the end of the post. . .

Mother had her appointment with the surgeon yesterday. We discussed the risks versus benefits. We decided that she did need a laparoscopic surgery. It is now scheduled for the 20th of August, in Mansfield Hospital. I admit, that this date was not what I planned. However, we had been praying for God’s timing & schedule, so I am working on bringing my thoughts into line with His plan.

Since I am here in the USA, I had my precautionary mammogram today. There are a couple of other tests that I might have done while I am here in the USA & not in PNG. As I was waiting this morning for my mammogram, it did hurt my heart that there is not really a good place to get reliable mammograms in Papua New Guinea. I do go occasionally to Australia (not as often as recommended, but every couple of years). But what about my Papua New Guinean friends. I have a couple of PNG friends that have died of breast cancer.
